W is for Writing, such a complex and interesting process. So filled with nuances and emotions. So many different ways to place thoughts and concepts on a blank page. Writing bares the soul and lays open the heart.
Writing has so many varied facets. From old-school banging out words on a typewriter to more sophisticated keyboards on our gleaming computer and phones. From achingly beautiful calligraphy to hand-written scribbles, writing is a part of who we are as humans.
Whether writing a grocery list on a post-it, crafting the perfect birthday message on a card, to more momentous work such as penning a novel, there are key elements that are present. Our brain activates ideas, thoughts and emotions which then must be transmitted down to the arms, the hands, our fingers. Sometimes, what seems beautiful in your mind is incontrovertibly awful on a page. Writing is a struggle, a battle, 10,000 wounds inflicted in the process of becoming vulnerable.
With W is for Writing, we want to push the words forward and out, laying out the thoughts and emotions that are an intrinsic part of who we are. We want to thank those brave enough to push through the struggle and give us the glorious gift of books. We also want to thank the lovely Laura Meseguer for her time, her hands and her stunning calligraphy, perfect for our photo.
