X is for Xmas, such a special time of the year. Love it or hate it, Christmas leaves no one indifferent. A time for friends and family, for gifts and parties. Mountains of delicious food and quiet naps. A winding down of the year and a preparation for the next.
It all depends on how you feel about Christmas. Yes, there are crowds of people everywhere, everyone is pushing and shoving, consuming and being silly. Normal errands become extremely difficult. But there is a magical quality beneath all the hum and buzz. The streets are awash in twinkling lights, the tree glows in the corner of the living room, and there is the food, of course.
In my case, my family is far away, so I get to spend Christmas with friends, which never disappoints. Or, I make the trek to Canada and enjoy time with that distant family. Either way, Christmas reminds me of my childhood and the anticipation. I appreciate the winding down of the year, the pause before jumping into the new. I love searching for the perfect gifts to give.
With X is for Xmas, we challenge you to see things differently this year when December rolls around. Prepare early so you don’t have to deal with the last-minute crowds. Go away on holiday, decide to spend time with friends if family is a hassle. Try to slow down and appreciate the moment. Celebrate the origin of Christmas as the true debauchery and fun it was always meant to be.
