D is for dress, you know the one. The second skin, the perfect fit. The dress that moulds to you so well that it feels like pyjamas, like it was tailor-made for you. This phenomenon doesn’t occur often but when it does, the immaculate dress is a thing of beauty.

The impeccable dress makes you feel more like yourself, heightens your mood, makes you feel flirty. It empowers you. When the hair is bad, a pimple has appeared, you have your period, that is the dress you reach for. It’s like the sun breaking through the clouds after days and days of rain.

Elusive at best, the perfect dress combines so many elements. The colour or print has to be just right. it has to play a game of hide and seek, concealing the messy bits while showing the parts of you that make you proud, make you lift your head a bit higher. It must not pinch or shove or press. Demure but sexy, a precarious balance. A dress that needs nothing or next to nothing added. And of course, the perfect dress must always have pockets.

With D is for dress, we salute these flawless garments that make us feel so good. The rustle of the fabric slipping over your head, the promise that today will be a good day. Heads will turn and you will take on the world.

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I’ll be posting each letter here on my blog, two per week. And if you’re just on-board, you can follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
