C is for chocolate, so gooey and messy, so satisfying and delicious. Chocolate doesn’t ask silly questions, doesn’t judge, and always hits the spot. A comfort that is always welcome, perfect in all its’ incarnations.

Another childhood favourite that just keeps giving and giving. The aroma of something chocolatey baking in the oven, the myriad textures that coat the tongue, signalling extreme pleasure to the brain.

With C is for chocolate, we bow down before the immense emotional delight of chocolate in all guises. Moist cake, smooth ganache with salt and olive oil, Nocilla sandwiches, cookies… the list is endless. I could survive forever on books and chocolate. I’m sure I’m not the only one that immediately checks the dessert menu in a restaurant, starting to plot how to get several people to order the desserts I would like to try while boldly stating  that I’m not sharing mine. I always leave room for dessert. A meal is never complete without a chocolate treat to finish. Chocolate will trump everything else, every single time. Cheesecake or tiramisu, ice cream or creme brûlée, all pale in comparison. And don’t even get me started when fruit is on a dessert menu…

Like a warm and comforting embrace, a blanket for the senses, the joy of chocolate knows no bounds. I prefer to indulge in private, I can groan and moan to my heart’s content, lick my fingers, lick the spoon, lick the plate! There is a satisfaction that nothing else provides. This is why our C, is for chocolate.
